The Rubber Buggy 'Sitting Tilda Butterfly & Root Cellar Door scene'

Hi there Rubber Buggy fans! Today I have a shaped Magnolia card I made using some new mixed media techniques I've recently discovered! I used Sitting Tilda with Butterfly from the Once Upon a Tim '13 collection and Root Cellar Door from the Sweet Rainbow '11 collection and masked the image to create this scene.

The shaped blank is made with Go Kreate Frilly Frame #5 and the image is Spellbinders Nestabilities labels 1 die, also used Tim Holtz on the edge Butterflight die. Papers are the Soferio collection by Maja Design.

Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Tattered Rose mixed with Aged Mahogony
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Dress - Victorian Velvet with Pumice Stone shading
Tights - Pumice Stone
Flowers - Shaded Lilac
Butterfly - Victorian Velvet, Pumice Stone, Shaded Lilac
Greenery - Bundled Sage
Wall - Pumice Stone
Bricks & Stone - Soot Black
Highlighted with Sakura Pen-Touch, white

The mixed media techniques I used are The Crafters Workshop Reversed Chicken Wire template and applied texture paste to achieve the chicken wire effect. I also used Shabby Pink Frantage embossing powder, set around the image with a heat gun, then applied Mod-poge and added Frantage colour Fragments. The Butterflight die has been coated with Snow Tex textured paint, and the stunning chipboard butterflies by Dusty Attic and 'hold my hand' Maja strip has been shaped and coated in Gesso. The large flower below is Prima.

The Rubber Buggy 'LOTV sentiment tag card - mixed media inspired project'

Hi all I'm posting for The Rubber Buggy Inspiration blog & today I have a LOTV tag card to share.

To make the tag shaped card blank first create a 4x6" tent fold card blank, then trim one of the corners off. Turn the corner over and use as a template to trim the other side in order to get even corners.

Lovely papers are by Pion Design coated in Gesso, edges have been inked with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Ink using a blending tool & then sewn around on the machine. The chicken wire effect is made using The Crafters Workshop reversed Chicken Wire template & texture paste. I then added shabby white Frantage embossing powder & Frantage flakes in green and pink.

The LOTV sentiment is from the Quotable Love set, stamped in Sepia with Black added towards the outsides. Viva Declor Cream pearl pen faux pearl swirls added around sentiment to highlight. The skeliton clock chipboard has been embossed in That Special Touch of Gold, then set with UTEE sprinkled with white embossing powder.

I added flowers & lace trim around the bottom & tied with lace and pearl bead string through the hole.

The Rubber Buggy 'Tilda on the Beach' by Deb.x

Hi all & today I'm catching up on my Saturday post for The Rubber Buggy Inspiration Blog. It's been such a hectic few days - first of all my laptop screen stopped working on Thursday and kept flickering then going completely black or white. So I thought I was in the market for a new laptop However when I took it in to the shop to the guy who I always deal with for IT related stuff, he told me I could plug it into a moniter & use like a desktop. So I've just got back & plugged in & wouldn't you know it - when the laptops plugged into the moniter the sceen on the actual laptop works fine, would you believe it?!! So I've gone from a dogey screen, to 1 broken screen, to 2 fully working screens at the same time! Ha. Computers will be the death of me I swear!
Anyways here is my summer Magnolia card I made using this ever so cute 'Tilda on the beach' stamp fromt the new Sea Breeze collection. I teamed her with my new LOTV sentiment stamp which complimented the image perfectly.

The papers I used are 12x12 Blue Vintage Hydrangea (front & back) from the new Sea Breeze collection and New England Wood from Bon Voyage collection - LOVE this for nautical makes! All edges have been inked with Antique Linen & Walnut Stain Distress Ink pads using a blending tool then distressed with edge of scissors.

The shaped card blank has been made with Go Kreate Frilly Frame #5 die. The feur de Lies Spellbinders die & Tim Holtz on the edge Scrollwork die have both been cut from kraft cardstock then coated in Picket Fence Distress Stain & Snow Tex.

I stamped the Tilda image onto watercolour paper, then again on to a scrap piece of thin card, cut the Tilda out and placed her over the origional image as a 'mask', then stamped the LOTV greeting in Whethered Wood Distress Ink. I coloured the image & around the sentiment with Distress Inks using a normal watercolour brush.

 Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Tattered Rise mixed with Aged Mahogony
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Swin Suit - Whethered Wood shaded with Pumice Stone
Trim - Pumice Stone
Highlighted with White Sakura Pen-Touch

And here's a quick look at the inside where I've also stamped the LOTV sentiment, this time onto the wood paper, circles are Spellbinders dies and the kraft die cuts have been cut with Feur de Lies Accents die.

The Rubber Buggy 'Bikini Tilda'

Hi there & I'm posting for my Saturday spot at The Rubber Buggy Inspiration Blog. I thought I'd ink up my  brand new Bikini Tilda from the new Sea Breeze collection. I used this great sketch from Simply Magnolia & papers from the same Magnolia collection.

The papers I used are Vintage Summer Roses, Grandpas Rose Garden, from the Sea Breeze collection & New England Wood from Bon Voyage collection. I distressed the edges with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain using a blending tool then scored with the edge of the scissors.

The card blank & Vintage tag eyelet is kraft cardstock & papers are matted onto white Bazzil cardstock. Tim Holtz on the edge scrollwork die has been cut from kraft & distressed with Snow Tex. The bunting (which I have to say is my absolute favourite thing at the mo!) I hand cut & curled around the twine. I then wrapped the twine around my finger & secured the loops with staples.

The image has been coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Inks on watercolour paper with a (dry) watercolour brush. Stamps around the image are HOTP & LOTV. The topper is mounted on a Spellbinders die that I cut from kraft card, distressed with Picket Fence Distress Stain & threaded with thick twine. I edged the Tilda topper with pearl bead string. The 2 clay corners are handmade with Martha Stewart clay moulds & white air-dry clay.

Distress Inks:

Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Tattered Rose mixed with Aged Mahogony
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Bikini & Flowers red - Aged Mahogony
Highlighted with Sakura Pen-Touch - White

The swirl above is a Doo Huckey die & the die cut flowers are a Marriane design rolled roses die. Other flowers are mainly Kort & Godt.

I LOVE making bunting & whilst everyone seems to be out of stock of the lovely Mganolia Doo Hickey bunting dies at the moment - I thought I'd hand cut my own! I left a tab that I curled around the thick twine, then cut little knotches & distressed for a shabby chic look, I then spelled out 'fun' in mini-alphas.

Above shows the removable Doo Hickey Vintage tag with Tim Holtz stamped sentiment & Blue Moon silver heart charm. Below shows peek of inside! Sentiment is from HOTP CD-rom.

Bikini Tilda shaped & masked Magnolia card

Hi there & today I'm sharing this shaped Magnolia card I made using 'Bikini Tilda' from the new Sea Breeze collection.

Check out this lovely inspiration photo from MDUC, which I tried to incorporate elements of and loosely based the colour pallete around.

I made a scene using masking technqiues with Tilda and 2 background stamps, then made the shaped  card blank with Go Kreate Frilly Frame #5 die.

Papers are from the same Magnolia Sea Breeze collection. Edges have been inked and distressed slightly with scissor edges. Below shows double loop edge punch by Martha Stewart. The die cut swirls are Tim Holtz on the edge scrollwork. I cut them from kraft & added Picket Fence Distress Stain & when dry shabby white Frantage embossing powder.

The image has been created using Bikini Tilda (Sea Breeze), Vintage Sweedish Bench (Once Upon a Time) and Happy Easter background (Little Easter) stamps. I stamped Tilda, masked over her and stamped the bench, masked the bench (still keeping Tilda masked) and stamped the background. When stamping the background I added the ink, then I masked the bottom half of the image by adding a sticky note directly to the stamp, positioned approx where the bench would be downwards so that none of the Little Easter image showed below the bench.

Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Aged Mahogony mixed with Tattered Rose
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
red on Bikini & Flowers - Aged Mahogony
Bench - Pumice Stone, Milled Lavendar
Cloud - Whethered Wood, Pumice Stone
Sun - Squeezed Lemonade
Stems - Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters
Highlighted with Sakura Pen-Touch, White

Flowers are Kort & Godt, Prima & LLC. I hand cut the sign, stamped the letters in Studio G alphabet stamps and curled around the wood.

Above shows Magnolia Doo Hickey So Wrapped So Lovely tag with lace tied around and Blue Moon key charm tied with twine. Tim Holtz hardware findings hindge cut from grungeboard & coated in Snow Tex, then Picket Fence Distress Glitter - set with pearl brad.

Above shows Doo Hickey Lovely Fence die cut from kraftcardstock & covered in Picket Fence Crackle Paint. Shaped and highlighted with Picket Fence Distress Glitter. Below shows the inside with HOTP printed sentiment quote.

The Rubber Buggy 'Jardin'

Hi all & I'm super excited today to be back posting for my Saturday spot at The Rubber Buggy inspiration blog.

I've made a Magnolia card using 'Delightful' Tilda who I have to say is my absolute fave Tilda so far - just how much more appealing can these images get?!! I decided on some yummy lilac papers by Maja Design in my favourite shabby chic style, which seems to have given the card a 'Wedding' theme that I wasn't necessarily aiming for to begin with, but I think the lattice and shabby white seam binding have also added to the Weddingy feel.

The lattice effect die is by Spellbinders, cut from Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock. I also cut the Lovely Fence die, Scalloped circle matt & large lilac flower from the same card.

I coloured with image with Distress Inks - I;ve been trying for ages to get my images to look a little softer & paint in a more shabby chic style that other crafters do so well, but I really struggle to STOP painting in details & adding to the depth of shading (I'm sure that's what most people struggle TO do...trust me to be coopsite!) Anyways even though I don't really think I've managed to do this yet, for my second painted image after over a month break I'm reasonably pleased with. The dress was painted in Shaded Lilac - I LOVE this new colour & it didn't really need anything adding to it to perfectly match the designer papers...but that's why I love DI's so much!

Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Tattered Rose mixed with Aged Mahogony
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Dress - Shaded Lilac
Tights - Pumice Stone

Flowers are a mixture of Kort & Godt and Prima. I sprinkled around the image and on some of the paper corners with White Frantage Embossing Powder then added some white pearl bead string. Below I spelled out 'jardin' in mini-alphas on the So Wrapped Doo Hickey die.

Above shows the Magnolia Doo Hicket So Lovely die with shabby seam binding bows, Tim Holtz Hardware Findings die cut from grungeboard and covered in Snow Tex & silver bird cage charm available from The Rubber Buggy. Below shows the bottom of the hindge from the Hardware Findings made in same way as lock.

I'm back!!! with The Rubber Buggy challenge 'Back to School'

Hi everyone & fianlly...I am back!!!
As some of you will know I had plans to re-decorate my craft room, and whilst that STILL isn't complete yet, it is now totally re-organised and back in working order. I've done all the fiddly storage items like getting all of my teeny tiny buttons, brads & bits 'n' pieces organised into brand new proper storage boxes (instead of my old cardboard/makeshift ones that were falling apart!) with different compartments so everythings looks neat, tidy & colour coded. So thats the hard part (or certainly the part I least like to do!) I've completely re-arranged the whole room & made little areas for different techniques, like a stamping & colouring table & shelves, a die-cutting storage table, sewing table & organised all of my different sized papers into their collections in plastic sheets. It must be working as I'm whizzing around on my chair much less than I used to as everything I need is right there infront of me!
I just need to re-paint now and get some nicer looking of the larger furnature/storage items as & when finances allow. But on the whole the room works so much better, plus it's just taken me half the time to complete one of my SC&P commissions than it usually would - just beacuse everythings tidyed and all my tools are to hand. Wow - such a pleasure to be crafting again - I should have done this years ago!!!
I'll take some pics when the cosmetic parts all done ;)

Anyhow enough of my rambligs I'm posting today for The Rubber Buggy who I just like to thank for being so patient with me whilst all of this has been goin on, so please join me in supporting this great, fun 'Back to School' theme!

The suggested colours for the Back to School theme were red, yellow & black...well whilst these colours are perfect for back to school theme - I just don't do primary colours!! So I used these scrummy Vintage Garden papers by Pion Design which have a redish, yellowish colours but in a softer, more shabby pallet that suits me down to the ground! I then added some heavy dark metal objects & black stamping for a hint of black. I used 'Tilda with Spitz Pocket' from the Special Moments collection 2013.

Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo
Cheeks - Tattered Rose mixed with Aged Mahogony
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Dress & Shoes - Victorian Velvet, Pumice Stone shading
Socks, Pocket & Dress lace trim - Pumice Stone

Embellishments include Martha Stewart clay frame & corner, Dymo red tape sentiment distressed with white paint, Tim Holtz hindge die covered in Crackle Paint, silver owl charm, shabby seam binding bows, lace & button tied with twine, doily & Tim Holtz metal file tabs & bull dog clips. The flowers are WOC & Magnolia berries both available from The Rubber Buggy (see below for links to products used).

Hope to be back soon!!!

Hey guys

Just a quick note to let everyone know why I haven't been posting for the past couple of weeks. As some of you will allready know I had a major disaster in my craft room which is in my loft space a few weeks back when I found signs of mice....yes MICE!!! Oh my word I was not a happy bunny & on investigation I found a small litter bag that had got mixed up with some bags of old childrens clothes that had a few bits of toast crust in (how embarrassing!!!) They had chewed through the bottom of the plastic bag & even nawed at some bits of papers I had in another bag. Luckily my loft is in 2 sections & my craft room was completely untouched as were the bags of clothes, however I immediately boxed all my craft stuff up & got it to safety downstairs! So after emptying the loft completey which to be honest really needed doing anyway, we were able to deal with the mice & they have now completely gone...Yey!!!

I've wanted to spruce up my craft room for ages now - it's a lovely big space but my storage is ugly looking & the whole thing is just very dreary & un-inspiring, when I see pics of other peoples beautiful looking craft rooms I'm so jealous! So even though I can't afford to do exactly what I would like at the mo as we're not working as much as we'd like, I decided to take the opportunity to completely re-organise everything, get some new bits & pieces & generally try to make it look at bit prettier! So I've signed down off all my design teams (very sadly!) apart from The Rubber Buggy who I've only just joined and I'm hoping to be back up & running over the next week or 2.

Thanks for visiting & hope to have some new yummy projects to share v.soon!

Hugs,

Deb.x

Deep Ocaen Challenge 'Ribbons & Lace'

Hi there & today it's time for another challenge over at Deep Ocean challenge. This week we'd like to see your Ribbons & Lace creations, we have a great sponser prize from LOTV so be sure to pop over to the challenge blog using the link above & enter your best projects!

For my card I used my new Saturated Canary stamp & these drop dead gorgeous papers from the new Maja Design Vintage Spring collection.

Paper edges have been inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink using a blending tool, then stiched on the machine. I added 2 ripped sections so I could 'hide' lace underneath, loving this look at the mo!

I cut the stamped & coloured image out using the Spellbinders Floral Ovals die, I then die cut the shape from lilac Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock & layered the 2 together with cheese cloth underneath. The postacards are by LOTV I stamped in black ink from other Maja papers from the Vintage Spring collection & added under the image topper also on cheese cloth for a shabby feel. The top oval has Tim Holtz, LOTV & HOTP Postcard stamps in Shaded Lilac, Victorian Velvet & Pumice Stone, I then added shabby white Frantage & set with heat tool.

Distress Inks:
Skin - Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo & shading with Walnut Stain
Cheecks - Aged Mahogony mixed with Tattered Rose
Hair - Antique Linen, Walnut Stain
Pants - Aged Mahogony & Tattered Rose
Sleeves, pants stripe & hair bow - Pumice Stone & Black Soot
Shoes - Shaded Lilac
Shading - Pumice Stone & Black Soot

Flowers are by Prima, Kort & Godt & others from Live & Love Crafts. Below shows the LOTV Postcards tucked behind image & my new Magnolia Doo Hickey die that I won as part of my prize for winning the Magnolia Down Under Challenge. I LOVE how you can win prizes from this challenge off merit & not just luck - I do wish other challenges would do this, though I understand it's not the most popular format ;)

Double bow tied in lovely white Stampin Up ribbon & set with white twine bow with Blue Moon silver heart charm. Below shows the banner I made with one of the bottom strips from the Maja papers - I LOVE these strips!!! I cut out 1 sentiment with butterflies either side & trimmed ends into 'v' shape, I then shaped & added pearl brads in this lovely plum colour.
